Fifteen Vibrations for Generic Bluetooth Sex Toys
A 15 track self-help album (42m 41s) — released April 4th 2025 on The Wormhole
'Fifteen Vibrations For Generic Bluetooth Sex Toys' is a collection of low frequency tonal compositions made exclusively for generic vibrators, capable of both remote bluetooth control and mp3 syncing (Lovense, Motorbunny, We-Vibe, etc.).
Largely monophonic, these pieces are inherently haptic due to the mode of presentation and the frequency range restrictions as determined by sex toys and their intended use. This album is an experimentally aimed excursion into an old, yet still relevant question:
What is 'listening'?
Is listening inherently linked to human aural perception? Or are there other more nuanced or subtle forms of listening that we have yet to explore and identify (with)? If so, how can we challenge our own biases and expand our perception on the definition of 'listening'?
Instructions for this album:
1. Download this album.
2. Upload individual tracks to your sex toy's connected bluetooth application.
3. Play in any order you wish.
4. Practice corporeal listening.
Ben Glas (b. 1992) is an experiential composer based in Berlin. Through ephemeral compositions Glas' work questions preconceived notions between the acts of passive hearing and active listening. In seeking to discover open ended forms of music and pragmatic listening perspectives, Glas' compositions focus on the realms of subjective perception and cognition, via the use of acoustics, psychoacoustics and space as tools for sonic composition. His work has been exhibited and performed in spaces all around the world, including the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), Glasgow's Radiophrenia festival, the Soundwave Biennial (SF) and the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA). He is currently receiving his M.A. in Sonic Studies at the UdK.
